Mel Gibson’s wife files for divorce

Mel Gibson’s wife has filed for divorce from the actor after 28 years of marriage, TMZ has confirmed.

Robyn Gibson cited “irreconcilable differences” in the papers, which she signed last Thursday. According to the entertainment website, there is no prenuptial agreement between the couple.

“Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so,” the Gibsons said in a joint statement released through their publicist, Alan Nierob.

They married in June 1980 and have seven children together. Mel Gibson’s net worth has been estimated at upward of $900 million. Under California Laws, community property — which includes earnings — is divided 50/50.

According to a report, the 53-year-old actor/director was recently spotted at his estate home in Costa Rica with a stunning Russian musician named Oksana.

“It was near sunset. The two of them were playing in the surf, ducking into waves,” said an eyewitness. “Then Mel sort of took hold of her and she came willingly into his arms. They put their arms around each other and kissed pretty passionately for about four or five seconds.”

But according to the Gibsons, the reasons for the divorce go beyond any third party.

Mel Gibson has been pictured embracing a bikini-clad beauty in the surf near his estate home in Costa Rica and…that’s not his wife!

According to RadarOnline, the Lethal Weapon star’s 300-acre property has been in the news before. It was there that he apparently entertained Britney Spears to help her recover after her recent breakdown.

“It was near sunset. The two of them were playing in the surf, ducking into waves,” said an eyewitness.

“Then Mel sort of took hold of her and she came willingly into his arms. They put their arms around each other and kissed pretty passionately for about four or five seconds.”

“The two of them then wandered down the beach and popped in and out of the surf, occasionally touching each other.”

Last September, reports surfaced that he was becoming close to a stunning Russian musician known only as Oksana while filming his new movie Edge of Darkness in Boston.

The hottie was spotted on the set three days in a row, and on one occasion emerged from Gibson’s private trailer.

Gibson, 53, is married to Robyn Moore, 52, his wife of 28 years and mother of his seven children.

No pre-nub exists in this marriage and Mel could stand to lose a huge portion of his estimated $900 million fortune. Robyn is seeking spousal support, joint custody, and attorney fees. You can bet that the support will result in a huge settlement.

Mel Gibson Steps Out With the Other Woman

It wasn't just the claws that came out at X-Men Origins: Wolverine's Los Angeles premiere Tuesday. The (alleged) mistresses came out, too.

Mel Gibson made his public debut with Russian gal-pal Oksana Grigorieva last night, walking the red carpet with the 39-year-old singer just two weeks (and at least one mistakenly identified Oksana) after his wife of 28 years, Robyn, filed for divorce.

The brunette crooner, who has a 12-year-old son with British actor Timothy Dalton, just happens to be signed to Gibson's record label, Icon Records.

While rumors are swirling about the new couple—including just how new they are (reports claiming they have been together anywhere from one to three years), and whether they are expecting—the twosome stode the carpet hand-in-hand, but gave no comment to reporters.

Upon filing for divorce earlier this month, Gibson and his estranged wife requested privacy. Walking a red carpet in front of the world's paparazzi is certainly a funny way of getting it.
