“American Idol” contender Joanna Pacitti has been disqualified from the TV talent show after producers discovered she’s a professional.
“It has been determined that Joanna Pacitti is ineligible to continue in the competition,” said in a statement on the official American Idol website.
Pacitti signed with A&M Records when she was 16, and has had songs featured on the soundtracks of Legally Blonde, First Daughter, Nancy Drew and the Bratz movie. Her song “Out From Under” was even covered by Britney Spears on her recent CD, “Circus”.
Felicia Barton of Virginia Beach, Va., replaced her in the top 36.
TMZ said producers demanded Pacitti’s resignation from the show on Wednesday and fired her when she refused. The celebrity website has learned that the American Idol hopeful was forced to pull out from the show because of ties to an A.I. executive.
