
The late Australian actor, Heath Ledger won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as The Joker in “The Dark Knight.”
Heath’s father Kim Ledger, his mother Sally Ledger Bell and sister Kate Ledger accepted the award on the actor’s behalf.
Penelope Cruz won the best supporting actress trophy and “Wall-E,” the morality tale cleverly disguised as romance about robots, won for best animated feature.
Cruz took home the first Oscar statuette for her portrayal of the fiery ex-wife of an amorous artist in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.”
