“Friday the 13th” led ticket sales in U.S. and Canadian theaters during President’s Day weekend, beating out Valentine’s Day favorites “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and “He’s Just Not That Into You“.
The remake of the 80’s slasher flick opened across North America with $42.2 million, from 3,105 theaters through Sunday.
“Friday the 13th” updates the gruesome tale of killer Jason Voorhees and his rampage among youths at a private summer camp.
The film was directed by Marcus Nispel, who shot the hit 2004 remake of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”
